Luc Nijs

Luc Nijs is the founder, chairman and group CEO of The Talitha Group, a global investment consortium consisting of seven intertwined industry platforms. He further provides extensive C-suite advisory, executive facilitation and financial training for corporations, investment funds and financial institutions and is active in over 180 countries worldwide on a wide array of strategy, investments and capital allocation issues. Before founding The Talitha Group he was with Arthur Andersen and Deloitte. Luc studied law, (international) taxation, business administration, regulatory economics and theology.

 

He held academic positions in international taxation, finance and capital markets at UAMS/IPO (Belgium), Instituto de Empresa (Spain) and as the Aizkraukles Banka Chair in investment banking, private equity and entrepreneurial finance at the Riga Graduate School of Law (Latvia). More recently he was responsible for the seminar 'International Capital Markets, Banking and Financial Products' at Leiden University (The Netherlands) in which he engaged with seasoned lawyers from all over the world to examine and debate the challenging dynamics between financial regulation & policies and the global capital markets space and its financial products.

 

Luc previously authored the best-selling book ‘Shaping Tomorrow’s Marketplace: Investment Philosophies for Emerging Markets and a Semi-Globalized World’ which was published by Euromoney (2011) as well as the equally if not more appreciated ‘Mezzanine Finance: Tools, Applications and Total Return’ published with Wiley & Sons (2013). Other publications include the well-received 'Handbook of Global Agricultural Markets’ (Palgrave Macmillan, 2014), and the more scholarly 'Neoliberalism 2.0: Organizing and Financing Globalizing Markets. A Pigovian Approach for 21st Century Markets' (Palgrave Macmillan, 2015). In 2020 he authored the comprehensive two-volume reference handbook 'The Handbook of Global Shadow Banking' (Palgrave Macmillan). Upcoming is also the 'Economics of Taxation: Contemporary Tax Policy Implications' book.

 

Luc is fluent in seven, mainly European, languages.
